To answer all the questions about the beach gravel launch here is a Lund 17 footer being launched the morning of September 25th. The gravel beach launch should be usable the next 2 to 3 weeks. September 24th, Mitch and Glenna Banicevich of Pioneer, CA caught 5 lb 10 oz and 3 lb 12 oz rainbows plus a string of planters on "pumped" crawlers, 2 feet deep off shore at the spillway.

- CAPLES LAKE UPDATE 09/23/09 A 7 lb 25″ trophy rainbow trout was caught 09/23/09 by Tom Flaherty from Omo Ranch, CA with a home made flasher by Smylies Tackle with a crawler top lining on the east shore. Planter limits of rainbows and browns are being consistently caught from shore with crawlers as well as caught trolling nude Kastmasters and other small lures and with crawlers and flashers.
- Caples Lake was full in early July and has been drawn down about 12′ to a
depth of about 50 feet. - The Caples Lake Resort beach gravel boat launch is being accessed with 17 to 19′ boats. The beach ramp may be accessible for another couple of weeks. Call 209-258-8888 for the lastest update.
- The lastest DF&G fish plant was 9/21 of 11,200 rainbow trout.
- NOTE: The Silver Lake Boat Launch will reopen Thursday at 1:00 ahead of schedule.
- NOTE: The new Caples Lake Deep Water Boat Ramp and Day Use area East of the dam being constucted by EID and the USFS with a grant from the Dept of Boating and Waterways is nearing completion with Highwat 88 turn lanes and access paved this week and paving to occur the week of 9/21 at the new facility. The boat ramp will be operational in spring of 2010 after lake thaw—-YIPPEE!

9/21/09 DFG Rainbow Plant
Caples Lake Resort has received yet another fish plant from the DF&G. On 9/21/09 11,200 Rainbow Trout from the American River Trout Hatchery, weighing about a half pound each, and totaling just over 4,000 lbs were released into Caples Lake @ 10:30a.m. This Plant brings the number of catchable (half pound or more) fish (Browns, Brooks, Rainbows) planted by DF&G so far this year to a staggering 91,500 Fish (that we know of)! There has been roughly 227,000 3″ fingerlings planted! And of course the 1,500 Trophy Rainbows ranging in size from 5 to 15 lbs planted in June by EID. Caples Lake Resort and all of its anglers would like to thank the DF&G and EID in their support in restocking Caples Lake and making this Summer/Fall one of the best years of fishing in a long time!!!

UPDATE: Silver Lake boat ramp to close for three days
Placerville, CA . . . Please be advised that the Silver Lake boat ramp Facility, including the boat launch and parking lot, will be temporarily closed during the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 22 through Thursday, September 24, 2009. The boat launch will be available on those dates before 8:00 a.m. and after 5:00 p.m.
Note: These dates differ from those announced in yesterday’s news
release.

NINE POUND RAINBOW
Hello from Caples Lake
Another 9 pound Trophy Rainbow, stocked by El Dorado Irrigation District in June, caught on September 16, 2009 by Nick Stake of Folsom, CA on a crawler 3 feet behind a flasher at 25 foot depth (see pic). Nick launched his 19 foot River Runner on the gravel beach ramp. Other catches of rainbow, brook and german brown planters have been seen at the Caples Lake Resort fish cleaning station this week as the fall bite picks up.
