Hi folks

Yes, the white stuff has finally arrived. Winter is here, and we have snow. Several inches of fresh powder fell on us yesterday, and we are expecting another foot or so tonight. Kirkwood Ski Resort is open 1 mile to the west.  The lake is frozen and in great condition for cross country skiing,  or ice fishing. We are having a web special right now. Book 2 nights and get the third night free.

Well it’s winter time here at Caples Lake Resort, and winter sports are in full swing.  The lake is frozen over and people are starting to ice skate on it.  Kirkwood Ski Resort is open on the weekends and the skiers and snowboarders are loving it.

 We will be opening on the 20^th of December and be open till March (depending on the snow).  There is still plenty of availability right now over the Holidays so give us a call and come on up to the sierras and have a white Christmas with us here at Caples Lake.

The Weather is forecast to be incredible for the next week—so we are extending our closing to October 30^th!

We have cabins open but have closed the lodge for remodeling. The fishing is great –look at that nice 4 pound rainbow caught back in emigrant cove off a crawler.

The Aspens are a couple of weeks late —so they are in their prime.

The store and Marina are open 9 to 5 during the week and 8 to 5 on the weekend.

COME ON UP AND ENJOY THE GREAT WEATHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AND HERE COMES THE SUN ON OCTOBER 6^TH TO MELT THE SNOW

AND PROVIDE A JUMP START TO GREAT FALL FISHING AND

ASPEN PEEPING IN HOPE VALLEY

The Carson Pass area received 9”of snow on October 5^th.

The last Sierra snowfall was a short 3 months ago on June 29^th!

The forecast is for Sunny and warmer this weekend.

Caples lake Resort is open for great fall fishing and the late fall Aspen color change. The Aspens seem to be 1 to 2 weeks late in turning this fall—maybe following the late or “no spring” and the late lake thaw on June 23^rd.

Caples lake will be open for Lodging and the Marina and Store 8 to 5 daily through October 24^th, then close for our Fall shutdown and then open Christmas thru March for the winter season.

HAVE A GREAT FALL SEASON

Seth and Jim went out this morning in a boat and were trolling at the mouth of Emigrant Bay near the “Big Rock Island” when Seth caught these two nice rainbows both just under a pound.  Seth is from Ione and Jim is from Ukiah.  They were trolling worms on top of the water about 35 yrds behind the boat.

WOW Little 7 yr old Filip from Croatia was fishing from the bank with his mom and dad today by the dam and landed these 2 whoppers all by his self Filip was using rainbow Power-Bait about 2 feet behind a bobber. These two Rainbows were both over a pound and almost as big as Filip is. Good job Kid!!!
